Avaya Aura™ Communication Manager configuration uses CLAN boards for network communications. The CLAN board is installed in a Port Network (PN) and/or Gateway that support TN-type circuit packs. The CLAN is used for IP and SIP communications with external endpoints such as Media Gateway's, IP phones, application servers and service providers.
A vulnerability was found in the CLAN board where a specific series of network traffic causes the board to reset or become unresponsive. The reset of the CLAN board causes all network communications to go down until the board resumes normal operation.

Recommended Actions:
Avaya strongly recommends that customers follow
networking and security best practices by implementing
firewalls, ACLs, physical security or other appropriate
access restrictions. Though Avaya believes such
restrictions should always be in place; risk to Avaya's
product and the surrounding network from this potential
vulnerability may be mitigated by ensuring these
practices are implemented until such time as a product
update is available. Further restrictions as deemed
necessary based on the customer's security policies
may be required during this interim period.
