2. Avaya System Products using a Solaris Operating System:

Some Avaya system products are delivered with a Solaris Operating System. Actions to be taken on these products are described below.

Product: Affected Version(s): Risk Level: Actions:
Avaya CMS R16, R16.1, R16.2, R15.x Medium CMS R16, R16.1, R16.2 upgrade to CMS R16.3 or later.
CMS R15 upgrade to CMS R15ab.m or R15auxab.m or later.
Avaya IR 4.0 Medium Upgrade to IR 4.0 Service Pack 6 and install "Solaris 10 Patch Cluster (Jan 2012) for Avaya IR 4.0 Service Pack 6" or later.

Recommended Actions:
Avaya strongly recommends that customers follow networking and security best practices by implementing firewalls, ACLs, physical security or other appropriate access restrictions. Though Avaya believes such restrictions should always be in place, risk to Avaya products and the surrounding network from this potential vulnerability may be mitigated by ensuring these practices are implemented until such time as an Avaya provided product update or the recommended Avaya action is applied. Further restrictions as deemed necessary based on the customer's security policies may be required during this interim period, but customers should not modify the System Product operating system or application unless the change is approved by Avaya. Making changes that are not approved may void the Avaya product service contract.

Mitigating Factors:

When determining risk, Avaya takes into account many factors as outlined by Avaya's Security Vulnerability Classification Policy. The following table describes factors that mitigate the risk of specific vulnerabilities for affected Avaya products:

Vulnerability Mitigating Factors
CVE-2011-3515
CVE-2011-3537
CVE-2011-2286
CVE-2011-3534
CVE-2011-3535
CVE-2011-3536
CVE-2011-2311
CVE-2011-2312
CVE-2011-2313
These are a medium risk for IR and CMS due to the potential for a user to cause a Denial of Service or escalate their privileges.
CVE-2011-3508
This is a low risk for CMS and IR as the affected package is installed but not used by default.
CVE-2011-2304
This is a low risk for CMS and IR as no critical system processes or applications would be affected.
CVE-2011-3542
CVE-2011-2292
CVE-2011-3539
These are no risk for CMS and IR as Solaris 9, Solaris 10 x86 and zones are not used or supported by default.
