Select an H323 or SIP bundle
If the majority of 46xx telephones at your location are SIP telephones, download a SIP Centric Upgrade script (46xxupgrade.scr) from this page and select one of the software bundles below. Install both in your TFTP and HTTP server Root Directory and then do the software upgrade (i.e., reboot the phone).
Select a language bundle
After selecting the software bundle, determine what type of multi-byte character (Chinese, Japanese, Russian, Hebrew or Greek) support your 4601+, 4602SW+, 4610SW, 4620SW, 4621SW, 4622SW and 4625SW should be providing. If you have no 4610SW, 4620SW, 4621SW, 4622SW and 4625SW IP Telephones, or if none of these telephones in your location need to support multi-byte characters for telephone display messages or the user interface, you want to choose the file labeled 46xxH323_030909.zip. This version of software supports single-byte character display, and user interfaces in English, Spanish, French, German, Italian, Portuguese, Dutch, and Katakana Japanese (4601+, 4602SW+, 4610SW, 4620SW, 4621SW, 4622SW and 4625SW).
If you need your 4601+, 4602SW+, 4610SW, 4620SW, 4621SW, 4622SW and 4625SW telephones to display Chinese, Russian, Hebrew or Greek characters, then you want to choose the file labeled 46xx_030909_ch_ru.zip. If you need your 4601+, 4602SW+, 4610SW, 4620SW, 4621SW, 4622SW and 4625SW telephones to display Japanese, Russian, Hebrew or Greek characters, then you want to choose the file labeled 46xx_030909_ja_ru.zip. If you need your 4601+, 4602SW+, 4610SW, 4620SW, 4621SW, 4622SW and 4625SW telephones to display Korean, Russian, Hebrew or Greek characters, then you want to choose the file labeled 46xx_030909_ko_ru.zip. All versions of 4601+, 4602SW+, 4610SW, 4620SW, 4621SW, 4622SW and 4625SW software also display single-byte characters, and provide a default user interface in English.
Note that all four software bundles include identical software for the 4601, 4602, 4602SW, 4606, 4610SW, 4612, 4620, 4620SW, 4621SW, 4622SW, 4624, 4625SW and 4690 IP Telephones. The only differences are with respect to the upgrade file.

Avaya TFTP Server Application Version 3.6.1
To download the TFTP software and instructions:
Note: There is a publicly known vulnerability in the iptel_avaya_tftp.exe TFTP application, which is Walusoft TFTPServer2000 Version 3.6.1 distributed as Avaya TFTP Server Application Version 3.6.1. The vulnerability is a directory traversal which may allow a malicious user to gain read access to files outside the TFTP root directory. To fix the issue, define the TFTP root directory, "C:\tftp\", in the "Outbound file path" field located under the "Outbound" tab of the "Server Options." The fix is documented on page 6 of the iptel.pdf instruction document and is required to be implemented by the user.
