A new security and support alert from Hewlett-Packard has been issued regarding HP-UX xterm described as follows.

TITLE: HPSBUX02075 SSRT051074 - HP-UX Running xterm Local Unauthorized Access
IMPACT: Local unauthorized access.
SUMMARY: A potential security vulnerability has been identified with HP-UX running xterm. The vulnerability could be exploited by a local user to gain unauthorized access.
AFFECTED SOFTWARE: HP-UX B.11.00, B.11.11, B.11.23.

2. Mitigating Factors:

Avaya systems running HP-UX 11.00 do not utilize xterm (although X11 is installed); Avaya systems running HP-UX 11.11 do not have the X11 package installed, and are both therefore not vulnerable.
