GhostScript was found to contain an insecure temporary file creation bug that failed to verify the existence of a temporary file before writing information out to that file. A malicious user could potentially overwrite arbitrary files with the privileges of a GhostScript application user. No privilege escalations have been found with regards to this issue at this time. The Common Vulnerabilities and Exposures project (cve.mitre.org) has assigned the name CVE-2004-0967 to this issue.
