MySQL has been found to contain a buffer overflow vulerability with long function_name fields. Remotely authenticated users with permissions to create user-defined functions could possibly execute arbitrary code with the privileges of the MySQL process if a defined function has a long function_name field. The Common Vulnerabilities and Exposures project (cve.mitre.org) has assigned the name CVE-2005-2558 to this issue.
