1. Overview:

Microsoft issued a security bulletin summary which contained security advisory: MS06-078. The advisory describes the following vulnerabilities in Windows Media Format Runtime. A remote code execution vulnerability exists in Windows Media Format Runtime due to the way it handles Advanced Systems Format (ASF) files and the way it handles certain elements contained in Advanced Stream Redirector (ASX) files. The Common Vulnerabilities and Exposures project (cve.mitre.org) has assigned the names CVE-2006-4702 and CVE-2006-6134 to these issues.

These vulnerabilities often do not impact the software-only product directly but may threaten the integrity of the underlying platform.

In the case of this advisory Avaya software-only products are not affected by the vulnerability directly but the underlying Microsoft Windows platform may be.
