Apache Tomcat is a servlet container which powers various Java-based web tools running on Avaya products. Port 8009 is typically used to connect Apache web services to Apache Tomcat, but this port is currently externally facing, which is unnecessary since interaction between Apache and Tomcat is internal only. While the built-in firewall for Avaya System products filters port 8009 by default, port 8009 should be disabled.
Product: | Affected Version(s): | Risk Level: | Actions: |
---|---|---|---|
Avaya S87XX/S8500/S8300 | All releases prior to CM 3.1.3 | Low | Upgrade to CM 3.1.3 or later. |
Avaya SES | All | Low | See recommended actions below. This issue will be addressed in accordance with Avaya's Product Security Vulnerability Response Policy |
Recommended Actions:
For all system products with port 8009 open to enternal interfaces,
Avaya recommends that customers restrict local and network access to the
server. This restriction should be enforced through the use of physical
security, firewalls, ACLs, VPNs, and other generally-accepted networking
practices until such time as an update becomes available and can be
installed.
