1. Overview:

XFree86, an implementation of the X Window System, provides the underlying graphical system that window managers and user environments such as GNOME, KDE and XFCE are run on.

An integer overflow issue has been reported in the XC-MISC function of XFree86 which could allow an authorized client to execute arbitrary code with super-user privileges. The Common Vulnerabilities and Exposures project (cve.mitre.org) has assigned the name CVE-2007-1003 to this issue.

Two integer overflow issues have been reported in XfFree86's and X.org's handling of font files. A local attacker could potentially exploit these issues to execute arbitrary code with the privileges of the X.org server. The Common Vulnerabilities and Exposures project (cve.mitre.org) has assigned the name s CVE-2007-1351 and CVE-2007-1352 to these issues.

An additional integer overflow vulnerability has been found in the XFree86 XGetPixel() function which could cause a crash, or lead to arbitrary code execution. The Common Vulnerabilities and Exposures project (cve.mitre.org) has assigned the name CVE-2007-1667 to this issue.

More information about these vulnerabilities can be found in the security advisory issued by RedHat Linux:

In the case of this advisory Avaya software-only products are not affected by the vulnerability directly but the underlying Linux platform may be. Customers should determine on which Linux operating system the product was installed and then follow that vendor's guidance.

4. Software-Only Products:
