Input Validation and Unauthorized Access Vulnerabilities in Avaya SES SIP Server

1. Overview:

The Web management interface on several versions of Avaya SIP Enablement Services (SES) was found to contain input validation vulnerabilities. This could potentially allow for a user of the Web management interface to execute arbitrary code.

The Web management interface on several versions of Avaya SIP Enablement Services (SES) was found to allow unauthorized access to several files. This could allow a remote user to view these files without being authenticated to the Web management interface.

SES 5.0 and later were found not to be vulnerable to these issues.

Recommended Actions:
For all vulnerable versions of Avaya SES, Avaya recommends that customers restrict local and network access to the server. This restriction should be enforced through the use of physical security, firewalls, ACLs, VPNs, and other generally-accepted networking practices until such time as the upgrade can be installed.
