Configuring your e-mail client (Outlook or Zimbra)

Messaging supports three types of message store:
  • Avaya message store

  • Exchange server

  • Zimbra server

For voice message access, Outlook can only be used with the Avaya Message Store or with Exchange server. The procedure for configuring Outlook in each of these cases differs as follows:
  • Outlook with Avaya Message Store: In this case, you need to set up an IMAP e-mail account in Outlook to begin using voice messages.

The procedures for configuring Outlook 2010, Outlook 2007, and Outlook 2003 with Avaya message store are listed here:

  • Outlook with Exchange server as message store: You can directly use your designated e-mail account in Outlook without any additional configuration in order to access voice messages

Zimbra automatically deploys the Messaging toolbar in your Zimbra Web client, assuming your organization has configured that option.
NoteNote

As a Zimbra user, if you have more than four hundred voice messages in your Inbox, you may experience slightly longer response times before you hear the message count in the Telephone User Interface (TUI)
