About this task
You must install the DIMM air baffle after you install a memory module.
CAUTIONFor proper cooling and airflow, replace the air baffle before you turn on the server. Operating the server with a missing air baffle might damage server components.
Important Always use an electrostatic-discharge wrist strap or other grounding system when you work inside the server. For more information, see Protecting against ESD damage.
Procedure
- Align the DIMM air baffle with the DIMMs and the back of the fans. See the following figure.
1 DIMM air baffle 2 PCI riser-card assembly 1 - Align the DIMM air baffle over the DIMMs so that the baffle pin on the left side of the air baffle aligns with the pin hole next to the DIMM connector on the system board. See the following figure.
1 Baffle pin 2 Baffle pin hole 3 DIMM air baffle - Lower the air baffle into place. Make sure that all cables are out of the way.
- Replace PCI riser-card assembly 1.
- Install the cover.
- Reconnect the external cables and power cords.
- Turn on the attached devices and the server.
