Testing name server lookup

Use the Name Server Lookup test to determine whether a system can be looked up through the domain name servers assigned on the Network Configuration Web page. If the system can look up domains, the system can also deliver messages to these domains. Run the Name Server Lookup test for the Messaging server and the mail gateway.

Procedure

On the Administration menu, click Messaging > Diagnostics > Name Server Lookup.
The system displays the Test Name Server Lookup Web page.
Enter the Internet host name or IP address of the system for which you want to run the test.
Select a DNS server from the Select DNS Server drop-down list.
Select the type of information you want to retrieve from the Record Type drop-down list.
Click Run Test.
