Mozilla Firefox is an open source web browser. XULRunner provides the XUL Runtime environment for Mozilla Firefox.
A flaw was found in Sanitiser for OpenType (OTS), used by Firefox to help prevent potential exploits in malformed OpenType fonts. A web page containing malicious content could cause Firefox to crash or, under certain conditions, possibly execute arbitrary code with the privileges of the user running Firefox. The Common Vulnerabilities and Exposures project (cve.mitre.org) has assigned the name CVE-2011-3062 to this issue.
A web page containing malicious content could cause Firefox to crash or, potentially, execute arbitrary code with the privileges of the user running Firefox. The Common Vulnerabilities and Exposures project (cve.mitre.org) has assigned the names CVE-2012-0467, CVE-2012-0468 and CVE-2012-0469 to these issues.
A web page containing a malicious Scalable Vector Graphics (SVG) image file could cause Firefox to crash or, potentially, execute arbitrary code with the privileges of the user running Firefox. The Common Vulnerabilities and Exposures project (cve.mitre.org) has assigned the name CVE-2012-0470 to this issue.
A flaw was found in the way Firefox used its embedded Cairo library to render certain fonts. A web page containing malicious content could cause Firefox to crash or, under certain conditions, possibly execute arbitrary code with the privileges of the user running Firefox. The Common Vulnerabilities and Exposures project (cve.mitre.org) has assigned the name CVE-2012-0472 to this issue.
A flaw was found in the way Firefox rendered certain images using WebGL. A web page containing malicious content could cause Firefox to crash or, under certain conditions, possibly execute arbitrary code with the privileges of the user running Firefox. The Common Vulnerabilities and Exposures project (cve.mitre.org) has assigned the name CVE-2012-0478 to this issue.
A cross-site scripting (XSS) flaw was found in the way Firefox handled certain multibyte character sets. A web page containing malicious content could cause Firefox to run JavaScript code with the permissions of a different website. The Common Vulnerabilities and Exposures project (cve.mitre.org) has assigned the name CVE-2012-0471 to this issue.
A flaw was found in the way Firefox rendered certain graphics using WebGL. A web page containing malicious content could cause Firefox to crash. The Common Vulnerabilities and Exposures project (cve.mitre.org) has assigned the name CVE-2012-0473 to this issue.
A flaw in Firefox allowed the address bar to display a different website than the one the user was visiting. An attacker could use this flaw to conceal a malicious URL, possibly tricking a user into believing they are viewing a trusted site, or allowing scripts to be loaded from the attacker's site, possibly leading to cross-site scripting (XSS) attacks. The Common Vulnerabilities and Exposures project (cve.mitre.org) has assigned the name CVE-2012-0474 to this issue.
A flaw was found in the way Firefox decoded the ISO-2022-KR and ISO-2022-CN character sets. A web page containing malicious content could cause Firefox to run JavaScript code with the permissions of a different website. The Common Vulnerabilities and Exposures project (cve.mitre.org) has assigned the name CVE-2012-0477 to this issue.
A flaw was found in the way Firefox handled RSS and Atom feeds. Invalid RSS or Atom content loaded over HTTPS caused Firefox to display the address of said content in the location bar, but not the content in the main window. The previous content continued to be displayed. An attacker could use this flaw to perform phishing attacks, or trick users into thinking they are visiting the site reported by the location bar, when the page is actually content controlled by an attacker. The Common Vulnerabilities and Exposures project (cve.mitre.org) has assigned the name CVE-2012-0479 to this issue.
For technical details regarding these flaws, refer to the Mozilla security advisories for Firefox 10.0.4 ESR. You can find a link to the Mozilla advisories in the References section of this erratum.
More information about these vulnerabilities can be found in the security advisory issued by Red Hat:
| Product: | Affected Version(s): | Risk Level: | Actions: |
|---|---|---|---|
Avaya Communication Server 1000:
|
7.x | None | See Mitigating Factors table below. |
| Avaya IQ | 5.x | None | See Mitigating Factors table below. |
| Avaya Aura® Presence Services | 6.0, 6.1, 6.1.1 | None | See Mitigating Factors table below. Note: xulrunner package is removed from Presence Services version 6.1.2 and later. |
| Avaya Aura® Session Manager | 1.x, 5.x, 6.x | None | See Mitigating Factors table below. |
| Avaya Aura® System Manager | 5.x, 6.x | None | See Mitigating Factors table below. |
Recommended Actions for System Products:
Avaya strongly recommends that customers follow
networking and security best practices by implementing
firewalls, ACLs, physical security or other appropriate
access restrictions. Though Avaya believes such
restrictions should always be in place, risk to Avaya
products and the surrounding network from this potential
vulnerability may be mitigated by ensuring these
practices are implemented until such time as an Avaya provided
product update or the recommended Avaya action is applied.
Further restrictions as deemed necessary based on the
customer's security policies may be required during this
interim period, but customers should not modify the System Product
operating system or application unless the change is approved by Avaya.
Making changes that are not approved may void the Avaya product service contract.
When determining risk, Avaya takes into account many factors as outlined by Avaya's Security Vulnerability Classification Policy. The following table describes factors that mitigate the risk of specific vulnerabilities for affected Avaya products:
| Vulnerability | Mitigating Factors |
|---|---|
|
CVE-2011-3062 CVE-2012-0467 CVE-2012-0468 CVE-2012-0469 CVE-2012-0470 CVE-2012-0471 CVE-2012-0472 CVE-2012-0473 CVE-2012-0474 CVE-2012-0477 CVE-2012-0478 CVE-2012-0479 |
There are no risk for CS1000, IQ, Presence Services, Session Manager, and System Manager because only xulrunner is installed. Firefox is not installed, which would be required to exploit these vulnerabilities. |
Avaya software-only products operate on general-purpose operating systems. Occasionally vulnerabilities may be discovered in the underlying operating system or applications that come with the operating system. These vulnerabilities often do not impact the software-only product directly but may threaten the integrity of the underlying platform.
In the case of this advisory Avaya software-only products are not affected by the vulnerability directly but the underlying Linux platform may be. Customers should determine on which Linux operating system the product was installed and then follow that vendor's guidance.
