Messaging supports various access mechanisms to mailboxes and messages, greetings, and other configurable features such as Reach Me and MWI. Messaging provides interfaces for certain added functionality, including remote administration and desktop client access to mailboxes. For instance, mailboxes can be accessed via Microsoft Outlook or Zimbra that connects to the customer local area network (LAN). The system can support standard and Secure Sockets Layer (SSL) versions of IMAP4 and SMTP client access on the Storage server. Messaging can also be networked with additional Messaging and voice mail systems.
Administer privacy settings in the Class of Service (COS).
Disable access on the Messaging server(s) by disabling the associated ports using the System Management Interface of Messaging.
Administer an external firewall to restrict access to those ports (i.e. limit to a specific IP address or range).
