Setting up a teletypewriter for your system and the user

ImportantImportant

You can associate the site that you create for TTY users with an existing application server that includes another site.

Before you begin

Avaya recommends that you disable speech recognition for TTY users. For more information, see Speech recognition.

Procedure

  1. On the Languages Web page, install the English (United States) - TTY language pack. For more information, see Configuring languages.
  2. On the Sites Web page, create a new site for TTY users with the following settings:
    • In the Main Properties area, in the Site Default Language field, select English (United States) – TTY.

    • In the Auto Attendant area, in the Default Language field, select English (United States) – TTY.

    NoteNote

    Do not configure:

    • TTY as a second language

    • Additional languages for TTY users

In Messaging, pilot numbers must be unique for different sites. Hence, for the new site you must create a unique pilot number for voice mail and Auto Attendant.

  3. On the Miscellaneous Web page, set the audio encoding format to G.711. For more information, see Configuring the miscellaneous information.
  4. In User Preferences, instruct the users to select the language as English (United States) - TTY.

The system defines the default language for user login sessions.
