In single site configuration of Messaging, the telephony server, the application servers, and the Avaya message store resides at a single site, which is defined using the SMI. In front-end/back-end topologies, the front end plays the application role and the back end plays the storage role. Dedicated application servers communicate with the telephony server and the AxC/Directory server that resides on the Avaya message store.
