Change Alarm Code Settings page field descriptions

Use this page to change the alarm code settings.

General section

Field or Button Description
Alarm The alarm description and the unique identification code associated with the alarm.
Enabled The options are:
  • Yes: Alarm is generated for the corresponding event.

  • No: Alarm is not generated for the corresponding event.

Severity The severity level of the alarm.

The options are:

  • Critical: Critical alarms describe problems that interrupt the service and require immediate action.

  • Major: Major alarms describe serious problems those need to be fixed as soon as possible.

  • Minor: Minor alarms describe problems that do not require immediate action but need monitoring.

Destinations group

Field or Button Description
NMS The options are:
  • Yes: Sends SNMP traps to a customer-provided Network Management System (NMS).

  • No: Does not send SNMP trap notifications to NMS devices.

TrapID The identifier of the SNMP Trap sent to NMS.
SSG/SAL The options are:
  • Yes: Sends SNMP traps to Avaya Services Security Gateway (SSG).

  • No: Does not send SNMP trap notifications to SSG devices.

    noteNote:

    The Init services user only can modify the SSG alarm notifications.

Email Delivery Whether the e-mail notification should be sent for the alarm code.

The options are:

  • Yes: Sends the alarm notifications to the configured recipients in the selected email groups.

  • No: Does not send the alarm notification to the configured recipients in the selected email groups.

noteNote:

Ensure that the e-mail server settings are configured when the EPM server is set up. You can configure the alarm e-mail notification recipients on the Delivery settings page.

Recipient Email Groups The email groups that the alarm notification is sent to for the alarm code.

If you select one or more email groups, the alarm notification is sent to all the email recipients from the selected email groups.

noteNote:

This field is displayed only if you enable Email Delivery.

If Email Delivery is enabled, you need to select at least one email group per alarm code even if the selected email groups do not have any email recipients.

Additional Email Text The following are the two fields in which you can append additional email text information:
  • Subject: Use this field to append an additional subject to the existing email subject of an alarm notification. The maximum number of characters that you can enter in this field is 80.

  • Message: Use this field to append an additional message to the existing email body of an alarm notification. The maximum number of characters that you can enter in this field is 256.

noteNote:

This is an optional field that is displayed only if you enable Email Delivery.

Send to Syslog Whether the alarm notification should be sent to the configured Syslog server.

The options are:

  • Yes: The alarm message is converted to syslog formatted message and is sent to the Syslog server.

  • No: Does not convert and send the alarm message to the Syslog server.

noteNote:

Ensure that the Syslog server IP addresses, to where the alarm message should be delivered, are configured.
