EPM Manager page field descriptions

Use this page to change the operational state and mode of the EPM running on your Experience Portal system.

Field

Description

Selection check box

Indicates the EPM whose operational state or mode you want to change. To select all EPMs, click the check box in the header row.

Zone

The zone where the EPM is configured.

Zones filter icon

To filter zones, click this icon located at the right side of the page. The system opens the Zone filter window for selecting one or more zones.

	Note:
	The Zones filter icon only appears when you create new zones. If you do not create any new zones, you do not see the icon

Server Name

The name of the EPM.

Type

The type of EPM.

The options are:

Primary
Auxiliary

Mode

The EPM operational mode and the date and time that mode took effect.

The options are:

Online: The EPM is available.
Offline: The EPM is unavailable and is not being polled by the Primary EPM.

	Tip:
	To view the date and time that this mode was first reached, hover the mouse over this column.

State

The operational state of the EPM.

	Tip:
	To view the date and time that this state was first reached, hover the mouse over this column.

Active Command

This column is displayed if one or more EPMs are currently in transition from their current state to a new user-requested state.

For each transitional EPM, this column displays the requested, or final, state. For any other EPMs in the system, this field displays None.

Config

The configuration state of the EPM.

The options are:

Need certificates: The Primary EPM certificate must be downloaded to the Auxiliary EPM by running the setup_vpms.php script on the Auxiliary EPM.
None: The EPM has never been configured.
OK: The EPM is currently operating using the last downloaded configuration.
Upgrade needed: The Auxiliary EPM must be upgraded to the same version of the software as on the Primary EPM.

State Commands group

	Note:
	These buttons are greyed out until you select one or more EPMs using the Selection check box in the EPM server table.

Button

Description

Start

Starts the EPM. The operational state changes to Starting until the EPM is back online, after which the state changes to Running.

Stop

Stops the EPM. The operational state changes to Stopping until all EP processing activity has completed or the grace period expires, whichever comes first. At that time, the state changes to Stopped.

	Note:
	For more information, see Setting the global grace period and trace level parameters.

After you stop the Primary EPM using this button, the EPM Manager Web page becomes unavailable. To start the Primary EPM again, you must use the following commands from the command line interface:

service vpms start
service mmsserver start

Restart

Restarts the EPM software, but does not affect the server machine. The operational state changes to Stopping until all EP processing activity has completed or the grace period expires, whichever comes first.

After the EPM stops, it starts again automatically, and the operational state changes to Starting until the EPM is ready to be functional again. At that point, the state changes to Running.

Reboot

Reboots the EPM server machine. The operational state changes to Rebooting until all EP processing activity has completed or the grace period expires, whichever comes first. At that time, the EPM server machine shuts down and automatically restarts. The state changes to Starting until the EPM is ready to be functional again. At that point, the state changes to Running.

	Note:
	If the MPP resides on the same server as the EPM, the MPP will be rebooted as well. You need to wait several minutes after the system has rebooted for Tomcat to restart and re-initialize the web applications before you can log back in to Experience Portal.

Halt

Halts the EPM and turns off the server machine on which the EPM is running. The operational state changes to Halting until all EP processing activity has completed or the grace period expires, whichever comes first. After that, the state changes to Halted when the EPM server machine has powered down.

	Important:
	If the MPP resides on the same server as the EPM, the MPP will be halted as well.

The MPP cannot be restarted until after the EPM server is restarted. Once the server machine has finished booting, the EPM software is automatically started and the MPP might enter the Stopped state. At that point, you can manually restart the MPP using the Start button on this page.

If the MPP is set to autostart, the MPP will start up automatically.

Mode Commands group

	Note:
	These buttons are grayed out until you select one or more EPM servers using the Selection check box in the EPM server table.

Button	Description
Offline	Sets the operational mode to Offline. No further polling is done.
Online	Sets the operational mode to Online. Once you start or restart the EPM, the EPM will be available for all EPM activities.
