The new 9600 Series IP Deskphones - the 9608, 9611G, 9621G and 9641G models - require Avaya one-X® Deskphone H.323 6.2.4 software.

Avaya one-X® Deskphone H.323 Release 6.2.4 is supported on the 9608, 9611G, 9621G and 9641G IP Deskphones only and when used with Avaya Aura® Communications Manager 5.2.1 and above, IP Office 7.0 latest SP and 8.0 or above, and Avaya Branch Gateway B5800 6.1 SP3 or above. It will not load or operate on any other models. 

This Software release supersedes all previous Avaya one-X® Deskphone H.323 software releases and service packs. Avaya recommends that all customers upgrade both new and installed IP Deskphones to this version at their earliest convenience. Customers are very strongly encouraged to read both the Readme (Release Notes) and Admin Guide regarding updates in this release including new settings file parameters, as changes have the potential to impact operation.

Please Note: The 9608/9611G/9621G/9641G require the use the SPPOE-1A (70050725) for providing local power. These models also do not ship with an Ethernet cable.

Compatibility with Avaya Aura® Communication Manager

  • Communication Manager 6.2 is the minimum version required for native support of the 9608, 9611G, 9621G and 9641G IP Deskphones. For CM releases prior to 6.2, the 9608/9611G IP Telephones should be administered as a 9630 IP Telephone and the 9621G/9641G IP Telephones should be administered as a 9650 IP Telephone. 
  • Communication Manager 5.2.1 is the minimum version supported. 
  • CM 5.2.x is the minimum version required to support the following features:
    • PE DUP functionality
    • Enhanced support for Station Lock feature to lock local application like Contacts, Call Log or A-Menu 
    • Mark calls in missed call log when they are redirected 

For correct operation with Call Center functionality when using Communication Manager versions earlier than 6.2 , stations must be administered as 9650 phones in Communication Manager.

New Features in H.323 6.2.4:

  • The DEBUG option is available for use only if you change the default password to the craft menu through the PROCPSWD parameter. 
  • The new value of the PROCPSWD parameter must be 4 to 7 numeric digits, "0000" through "9999999". However if value of PROCPSWD is less than 4 digits after you install R6.2.4 or later, the value will be changed back to the default value of 27238.

  • Support for option to activate mute when Shared Control causes the speakerphone to go off-hook
  • Support for improved activation of Agent Greetings

New Features in H.323 6.2.2 (included in 6.2.3):

  • Provide user option for bidirectional headset identification
  • Phone based conditional auto-answer.

Enhancements with Avaya one-X® Deskphone H.323 Release 6.2:

The Avaya H.323 release 6.2 software brings significant improvements to customer deployments and the market. Avaya has leveraged a highly disciplined quality approach; from rigorous software development practices, extensive code inspection, enhanced product verification to widespread live user trials on thousands of phones in dozens of customer sites.

Contact Center features:

  • Agent greeting support:
    • Greeting maximum size is 10 seconds; about 6 greetings can be saved.
    • Manual recording of agent greetings is supported.
    • Agent Greetings can be saved on the phone between logins by the same Agent.
    • Automatic prompting for greeting.
    • Greetings can be automatically triggered per event such as time of day, answering a call, ANI, VDN and prompted digits.
  • Agent login and logout detection via CTI or Abrv-dial
  • User Timer extended after call is over.
  • Administrator can disable the hook switch via the settings file to prevent agents accidentally going off hook and then on hook with the handset. 
  • Call appearance is now 15 characters wide for VDN name for touch phones, for button phones it must be 12 or 24 characters wide, depending on screen width. 
  • The Agent can press the UUI-INFO button to get the UUI information displayed. If this information does not fit on the allocated display area the content will scroll on the line
  • The Agent can use the Caller info button to view secondary information about the ongoing call (collected digits, qcalls, q-time, trk-id, VuStat display, and uui-info). 
  • Call Recording Tone administrable.
  • Dual headset adapter support.

Additional new features:

  • Bluetooth support for 9641G
  • Wireless headset ring. Ringing is supported on wireless headsets. Please check release notes and DevConnect for supported headsets and cables.
  • Local Timer stop watch feature.
  • WML buttons: The capability to define WML buttons with functions is extended to allow the implementation of call control capabilities.
  • Visiting user profile.
  • New Customizable System Parameters
  • Management Information Base (MIB) updates
  • Combines the Title line and the Prompt line shown on other 9600 Series IP Deskphones into one Status line
  • Headset RX gain (volume) levels were increased by 5dB at nominal setting.
  • Secure Shell (SSH)
  • Enhanced Debug mode
  • Enhanced Management Information Base (MIB),

Requirements:
Before downloading and installing the Avaya one-X® Deskphone H.323 6.2.4 software, please be sure that:

  1. Your Avaya Media Server has Communication Manager® 5.2.1 or later. 
  2. Your LAN administrator has installed HTTP server software and configured the DHCP server according to the Avaya one-X® Deskphone for 9600 Series IP Telephone Administrator Guide available on this site in the Documentation section. 
  3. You have reviewed all applicable PCN and PSN notices on this website and downloaded any associated software patches.

Disabling of Encryption - In some jurisdictions, there is a regulatory requirement to disable the use of encryption technologies. Avaya has created and made available versions of H.323 6.2 software which have removed the ability to use media encryption (SRTP), IPSEC VPN and HTTPS. Please consult with local regulatory authorities to determine if these requirements apply to you and ensure that the correct version of software is downloaded and installed.

Tips for Searching Avaya Support


A good query consists of three things:

 Enclose exact words or phrases in double quotes. Include plus (+) to require words, minus (--) to exclude words, and OR between words. i.e. forwarding OR coverage + "all calls"-- remote

 

Don't include "special" characters in your search (i.e. &, <, >, *, $, / ,\, ....)

 

The more exact the phrases are to the actual title or string of text in a document, the better the results
