Call termination

Ending (or terminating) a call is done by either a caller going onhook or by the Avaya IR system.

The application that is assigned to the channel associated with the telephone line that is carrying the call initiates a termination instruction. The instruction is typically in response to an event (such as a caller selecting a menu option for ending the call), or the last in a set of instructions (for example, ending the call following the speaking of information to the caller).

The application instruction results in a process being run on the system executing an IRAPI command. Depending on the command (and whether the features required to support the command are installed and configured), the system either performs the termination itself, or tells the switch to end the call. If the system terminates the call, the termination is done by the telephony boards.
