Table 17:  Examples: Configuring Decision Policies and Links
Action
Command

Create a decision policy named policy_1

Avaya_ANS (config-engine)# decision-policy policy_1

Set a narrow winner-set width for all subnets associated with policy_1

The winner-set-width value is set to 3, and the extended width is set to 5 (used when load-optimization is enabled and the winner set defined by the winner-set-width value is empty).

Avaya_ANS (config-engine-policy)# winner-set-width 3 5

Prioritize any subnet associated with policy_1. Decisions involving these subnets are processed by CNA decision-maker before non-priority subnets.

Avaya_ANS (config-engine-policy)# priority-prefix

Accesses Link Configuration mode for link_1.

Avaya_ANS (config-engine-policy)# link link_1

For any subnet associated with policy_1, this command specifies that link_1 be chosen when it is in the winner set.

Avaya_ANS (config-engine-policy-link)# winner-set-priority prefer

Accesses Link Configuration mode for link_2.

Avaya_ANS (config-engine-policy)# link link_2

For any subnet associated with policy_1, this command specifies that link_2 be avoided. If link_2 is in the winner set, it will be the CNA system’s last choice.

Avaya_ANS (config-engine-policy-link)# winner-set-priority avoid

Exits Link Configuration mode.

Avaya_ANS (config-engine-policy-link)# end

Exits Policy Configuration mode.

Avaya_ANS (config-engine-policy-link)# end

After adding the above commands, a show running-config command shows the following block of commands in the CNA configuration:

decision-policy policy_1

  winner-set-width 3 5

  priority-prefix

  link link_1

    winner-set-priority prefer

    end

  link link_2

    winner-set-priority avoid

    end

  end
