Checking Status of the Polling Process
Use the show statistics command with the link-monitor keyword to check the status of the polling process. The following data represents show statistics link-monitor output on a device called Avaya_ANS, which is configured with three service provider links named link_1, link_2, and link_3 (link_3 has not yet been configured for polling):
Avaya_ANS# show statistics link-monitor

The tables display the following columns:
- Links
- Link--name of the service provider link, as configured with the link command
- SNMP Agent--name used in the CNA configuration to identify the SNMP agent on the remote device (configured by the polling snmp-agent command)
- Interface Identifier--address of the interface being polled on the edge router; configured by the polling interface-ip-address command
- Link Usage
- State--state of the link when last polled for link usage; can be one of the following:
1.
ADMDOWN--polling for this link is down due to administrative action (turned off by executing the
no polling usage on command)
2.
BADADDR--bad IP address; the CNA system was unable to get the interface MIBs
ifIndex value for the IP address specified by the
snmp-agent-ip-address command
3.
INIT--initial state; not all polling parameters have been configured for the link
4.
POLLING--link is currently being polled for link usage, and the last poll was successful
5.
SNMPERR--an SNMP error has occurred, but it is expected to be cleared and polling will continue
6.
TIMEOUT--the last SNMP request to the edge router has timed out; the link will continue to be polled at the specified interval (could be caused by several events, including: no connectivity between the CNA system and edge router; bad community string; or congested network, for example)
7.
UNKNOWN--an unknown event has occurred; save your log file and contact Avaya customer support
- Sec--polling interval, configured by the collection-rate argument of the polling usage interval command
- Inbound Rate--bits per second coming into your network across the interface
- Outbound Rate--bits per second leaving your network across the interface
- Last Update--time since router was last polled for link usage data
- Interface Status
- Link--same as in Links table
- State--state of the link when last polled for interface status (see Link Usage table for possible states)
- Sec--polling interval, configured by the polling interface-status interval command
- Interface Status--state of the interface (up, down, or unknown; see Chapter 3: Adaptive Path Control in the CNA Adaptive Path Controller Guide)
- Last Update--time since router was last polled for interface status
- BGP Peer Status
- Link--same as in Links table
- State--state of the link when last polled for BGP Peer status (see Link Usage table for possible states)
- Sec--polling interval, configured by the polling bgp-status interval command
- BGP Status--state of the peering between the CNA system and the router (up, down, or unknown; see Chapter 3: Adaptive Path Control in the CNA Adaptive Path Controller Guide)
- Last Update--time since router was last polled for status of the BGP peering
