Optimizing Link Selection Based on Load
The decision-maker process can optimize load on your links in two different ways:
- open-loop--routes are chosen and asserted based on configuration data and traffic metrics alone, without feedback about current traffic load.
- closed-loop--feedback from the edge routers regarding current traffic load through individual links is factored into the decision-making process before the routes which are to be asserted are chosen.
These methods are compatible and can be used simultaneously.
Each method can be applied globally, for all prefixes, or targeted to apply only to specified prefixes.
