Other than configuring the router end of the GRE tunnels, the only HA-related change necessary on the edge router is the addition of a few commands to add weights to the CNA-asserted routes.
On each edge router, you need to add a route-map rule to assign a relatively high weight (200, for example) to routes asserted by the primary CNA system and another route-map rule assigning a slightly lower weight (such as 199) to routes asserted by the secondary device. (Before choosing a weight value, see the discussion of weight in Chapter 2: Configuring Your Routers of the CNA Advanced Monitoring Guide.)
In Cisco IOS syntax, the configuration would look as follows:
... route-map PC-PRIMARY permit 10 set weight 200 route-map PC-SECONDARY permit 10 set weight 199 ...
If 172.16.6.14 is the fastethernet address on the primary CNA system’s engine module, 172.16.8.21 is the fastethernet address on the secondary device’s engine module, and 65002 is your network’s AS number, the BGP neighbor statements would include the following:
router bgp 65002 ... neighbor 172.16.6.14 route-map PC-PRIMARY in neighbor 172.16.8.21 route-map PC-SECONDARY in ...
