Explanation of Changes
The following changes were made to the configuration:
- In a 5000 series unit, the engine is normally installed in slot 1, and all 5000 series modules use only port 0. In a 3000 series unit, the engine shares subsystem 0 with the management module and uses port 1.
- In the 5000 series device, USTAT modules were always configured to use port 0 and a unique slot number. In the 3000 series device, multiple USTATs can be configured on the same subsystem (equivalent of a 5000 series slot number), and the recommended configuration for a 3300/3350 stack is to place all USTATs on one of the USTAT ports on the 3350 unit, which implements USTATs on subsystem 3.
- The slot number was removed from the engine module statement. (The module engine command did not have to be changed--the CNA system will continue to recognize slot numbers if specified. But in the interests of forward compatibility, we’ve removed the slot from the engine module command.)
- Slot numbers were changed to names in the USTAT module statements. (Slot numbers will continue to be recognized in module ustat commands so that configurations on existing 5000 series devices do not have to be changed when upgrading to a new image. But the changes were required here because the USTATs are being referenced within a single interface configuration block.)
NOTE: Changes were needed to make this example 5000 series configuration work in a 3000 series device because the original configuration was created before the CLI was changed to accommodate the new platform. New configurations can be written so there is no need to modify them for cross platform compatibility. The 5000 series devices fully support the syntax changes introduced for the new platform, such as no slot numbers in module commands and named USTATs referenced in the interface command. See the command descriptions in the CNA Command Reference Guide for details.
