Type
Prompt Editor Palette item
Available From
Any level tab in the Prompt File Editor. For more information about the Prompt File Editor, see Using the Prompt File Editor.
Purpose
Constant Audio makes use of a literal string to play standardized types of information to callers. These standardized types of information include time, date, and currency.
Behavior
With audio variable, Dialog Designer takes the contents of a variable at runtime and converts it to a sequence of wav files. With Constant audio, you just have to enter the text you want to be converted as a literal string. For example, if you enter the value `101' in the prompt segment properties, Dialog Designer converts the string into files .hundred.wav and one.wav and plays phrases one, hundred, one during runtime.
The net effect of Audio Variable and Constant Audio are the same. The only difference is that Audio Variable gets its data from a Dialog Designer variable, and Constant Audio uses a literal string that cannot change.
