If you are informed that a remote
machine has been removed from the network, you must delete that remote
machine from your local machine. When you delete a remote machine, you
also delete any remote subscribers associated with that remote machine.
Machine information is not removed completely
from the system until a nightly audit runs. Subscriber information is not removed completely from the system until a weekly audit runs..
Because deleting a machine removes the remote machine and the remote
subscribers assigned to that machine, before proceeding make sure that
you really want to delete the machine, and then make sure that you enter
the correct remote machine name. You can restore from a backup if you make an error.
To delete a remote machine:
- Start at the Messaging Administration main menu and select Messaging.
The system then displays the AUDIX
Command Prompt screen after you enter your login.
2. Enter remove
machine machine_name at the enter command
prompt.
Note: If you do
not know the names of the remote machines, enter list machines
at the enter command: prompt. The system displays
a list of all machines administered on the system. |
The system displays page
1 of the Remote Machine Profile screen and prompts you to press F3
(Enter) to execute the command.
- Press F3 (Enter) to
remove the machine.
The cursor returns to the
command line, and the system displays the following message:
Command Successfully
Completed
.
- Enter another
administrative command at the
enter command:
prompt or exit.
Note: You will receive ERR_SYSTEM messages for the elements associated with the machine until the weekly audit runs. The ERR_SYSTEM message will be received when you view the members in a mailing list from Message Manager, and a member was on the machine you removed. You will not receive any ERR_SYSTEM messages from TUI.
You can run the following commands with the messaging form controls to avoid the ERR_SYSTEM messages:
- audit network-data
- audit subscriber-data
- audit mailing-lists
