Creating a Shadow Mailbox

This topic provides information on creating the shadow mailbox. The shadow mailbox is a special mailbox that ELA uses to distribute messages. The use of a shadow mailbox prevents replies to ELA-delivered messages from being sent back to the entire enhanced list. The shadow mailbox must belong to a community that cannot receive messages.

To create the shadow mailbox:

  1. Start at the Messaging Administration main menu and select Messaging. Enter your login.

The system then displays the AUDIX Command Prompt screen.

  1. At the enter command: prompt, enter add subscriber.
  2. The system displays the Subscriber screen, Page 1.

  1. For the Name field, enter a name that is useful to your subscribers, such as "Mailing List" or Enhanced-Lists Postmaster."
  2. For the Extension field, enter an unused extension at which you want the shadow mailbox to be located. Make sure that this extension is not administered as a station on the switch.
  3. For the COS field, enter the ELA class-of-service name or number (the example uses 8).
  4. In the Community ID field, enter the number of the shadow mailbox community you created (the example uses 11).
  5. Press F3 (Enter) to save this information to the system database.
  6. The cursor returns to the command line, and the system displays the following message:

    Command Successfully Completed
