Table: Field Definitions; Network Addressing Window
Field
Valid Input
Procedure/Description
TCP/IP Interface:
Select from the choices list.
Press F2 (Choices) to see a list of choices. If no choices appear, the card has not been set up. Perform the tasks in Setting Up a Network Interface Card.
Host Name:
1 to 10 alphanumeric characters
In most cases, enter the AUDIX server name. The administrator of your PC network or LAN should have this information. The Host Name is usually the same as the AUDIX server name, although it's not required.
The Host Name (AUDIX server name) must be the same as the local machine name specified on the Local Machine Administration window and must adhere to the following rules:
    • The machine name cannot contain blank (embedded) spaces. For example, denver 1 is not allowed, but denver_1 is allowed.
    • This is a case-sensitive field. Uppercase letters must be entered as uppercase, and lowercase letters as lowercase.
    • Hyphens (-) are allowed.
    • Underscores ( _ ) are allowed.
    • The machine name cannot start with a number.
IP Address:
The address must be in the following format:
NNN.NNN.NNN.XXX
where NNN is a number from 0 through 255 and XXX is a number from 1 through 254.
Enter the IP address. This is the TCP/IP address of the Intuity AUDIX system.
Subnet Mask:
The subnet mask must be in the following format:
NNN.NNN.NNN.NNN
where NNN is a number from 0 through 255.
This is an optional field. If you do not enter a subnet mask, the system uses a default of 255.255.0.0. Enter the subnet mask.
The subnet mask is used to determine which bytes of the IP address specify the network and host addresses.

Note: The default value may conflict with your LAN configuration. Check with the administrator of your PC network or LAN to ensure compatibility.

Default Gateway Address:
The address must be in the following format:
NNN.NNN.NNN.XXX
where NNN is a number from 0 through 255 and XXX is a number from 1 through 254
Enter the default gateway IP address.
The default gateway IP address is the address of the gateway router that serves to connect to addresses on other LANs. Leave this field blank if the Intuity AUDIX system will be communicating only with other Intuity AUDIX systems on the same LAN.
