The following is a summary of the security enhancements introduced in Avaya IR Release 1.2.1:
All operations done with the Web Administration tool are now performed using Secure Sockets Layer (SSL) technology. SSL is a protocol for encrypting and securely transmitting data over networks. Using it with the Web Administration tool helps ensure that all administrative work done remains secure, no matter where the administrator is doing the work.
SSL is also an available option for interactive voice response applications created using VoiceXML. This allows you to offer your customers encrypted data transmission and the assurance of knowing that they can transact business with you in a secure environment.
For customers who purchase the complete Avaya IR system solution (that is, both the hardware and software), unneeded network services are disabled by default.
Customers who purchase the software-only solution can, if they wish, make their systems conform to these standards by running the disableServices utility. They may also consult the white paper, Avaya Interactive Response Security and follow the recommendations in that publication.
Note:
The disabling of network services towards heightened system security began with Release 1.2 and has been expanded in Release 1.2.1.
To help you further protect your system, we have produced a white paper that details the steps and measures you can take to enhance the security of your system. We strongly recommend that you read and implement the practices described in the white paper, Avaya Interactive Response Security.
