NCHANNELS

The NCHANNELS parameter specifies the maximum number of channels configured in the system. There must be a channel entry for every type of channel: real, virtual and NONEX. In addition, there must be at least one virtual channel configured in the system.

Note:
The default value of NCHANNELS is 480 and the default value of NCALLS is 400 as of December 2001.

To check the current value of NCHANNELS, execute the following command:

/etc/conf/bin/idtune -g NCHANNELS

To check the the current value of NCALLS, execute the following command:

/etc/conf/bin/idtune -g NCALLS

To change the values of NCHANNELS and NCALLS to the recommended defaults, do the following:

  1. Set NCHANNELS to 448:

    /etc/conf/bin/idtune -g NCHANNELS 448

  2. Set NCALLS to 400:

    /etc/conf/bin/idtune -g NCALLS 400

  3. Stop the voice system. Using the command line:

    stop_vs

  4. Rebuild the kernel:

    /etc/conf/bin/idbuild -B
