Circuit-based call answer

The following steps are typically involved in the answering of a call:

  1. If a switch is being used:
    1. The incoming call is detected by the switch.
    2. The switch connects the line for the incoming call to the Avaya IR.
  2. The Avaya IR system detects the incoming call as a signal on the digital telephone line.
  3. The Avaya IR system checks the instructions in the application assigned to the telephone line to find out what it should do with an incoming call. It finds an answer instruction.
  4. One of the processes running on the operating system executes the IRAPI answer instruction. The execution involves sending a command to the digital telephony board, which tells it to send an offhook signal through the telephone line.
