Restoring the configuration

You can use the restore_conf tool to restore the configuration of an Avaya IR system from a single XML file. The XML file that contains the configuration must be specified when prompted by the tool.

To restore the configuration, run restore_conf from the command line.

When restoring the NMS configuration, the restore_conf tool performs a check to see if the current number and type of NMS boards installed in the system matches those of the system on which the configuration was originally saved. If they do not match, the NMS configuration is not restored and an error message is displayed.

The restore_conf tool also performs a check on the IP address before restoring the VoIP configuration. If the IP address of the machine on which the configuration was saved is different from the IP address of the machine on which the configuration is being restored, the VoIP configuration is not restored and an error message is displayed.

The format and some of the parameters in the configuration files for TTS, NLSR and VoIP modules have changed in the Avaya IR R2.0 system. To compensate for this change, when a configuration from an Avaya IR R1.0, R1.2, R1.2.1, or R1.3 system is being restored on an Avaya IR R2.0 system, the restore_conf tool automatically maps to the new parameters and creates the configuration files accordingly.

After running restore_conf,if you are using the ISDN PRI and are upgrading from a previous release of IR, you need to do the following manually:

  1. Open the file NMS_Bx.cfg for ISDN board (x is the board no) in folder /vs/data/ using the vi editor.
  2. Change the line starting with DLMFiles[3]=isdn.. to DLMFiles[3]=isdngen.leo
  3. Save the file.
