Follow the steps in the table in this section to configure the pre-installed system software, which includes the Solaris 10 operating system and all of the Avaya IR base software.
All of the IR base software packages are pre-installed. However, additional packages are required to make the system operational. When you complete this procedure, you will be required to install additional packages on your system. For more information, see Installing optional packages.
Note:
Many of the system prompts in this procedure require the use of function keys. Typically, if the function keys do not work, you can use them by pressing Ctrl+F then pressing # where # is the function key number. If the terminal type is xterm, use the following procedure so that the function keys will work properly:

2. Enter export SMTERM=xterm

Before beginning this procedure, verify that the LAN cable is not connected to the IR server. (The system will prompt you when it is time to connect it.) Avaya also recommends that you not configure the IP address on the LAN for the IR server before performing the procedure described in the following table.

Note: You will have to complete the installation of the Solaris Operating system, after you complete the above steps. During the installation of Solaris 10 O.S., ensure that when you are selecting the geographic regions for which support should be installed (Select the geographic regions for which support should be installed)
North America is selected, besides other geographic regions for which you may want to install support. Also ensure that while selecting the initial locale to be used after the system has been installed (Select the initial locale to be used after the system has been installed),
POSIX C ( C )
, is selected. This helps avoid problems with speech (MRCP feature) functionality. Having POSIX C ( C )
selected as the initial locale also helps avoid potential problems in JDBC functionality.
The steps in the table above describe the installation of only the base system software. If you want to use additional software, such as speech recognition software, Text-to-Speech, and other optional packages, you must install them separately, using the pkgadd
command.
