This topic provides information on logging in to the Message Networking
system. As a system administrator, you use the sa login. There are
two ways to access the system:
The pages that display might be slightly different depending on
your method of login and the browser you are using.
Caution! Your service technician installs your system with
default passwords. You should immediately change these passwords
after the installation is complete. After familiarizing yourself
with the basic operations of the Message Networking system detailed
in the next few sections, set new passwords.
Note: The sample screens, menus, and pages provided in
this Help system may vary slightly from your system display.
Logging in via the console
Use the following procedure to log in to Message Networking from
the console connected to the system:
To log in to the Message Networking system via the console:
- Turn on the monitor.
The system displays the following message:
console login:
- Type sa (or another appropriate login) and press Enter.
The system is case sensitive, so use lowercase letters.
The system displays the following message:
password:
- Enter the password for your login.
The system displays the following message:
terminal type:
- Enter one of the following:
- linux for the console monitor
- 4410 for Terranova or PROCOMM PLUS 4410 emulation
- 4425 for a 4425 terminal
- 715 for a 715 terminal
- vt100 for a vt100 or vt131 terminal
Note: Additional terminal types can be used and may
work with no noticeable difference in functionality. However,
inconsistency in the appearance of function keys and displays
may result when using some terminals or emulators.
- If you use the sa login, the system displays the Administration
menu.
Select items from the menu by clicking on them. Use the browser
Back button to return to the previous page, or click Return
to Main from any page to redisplay the Administration menu.
Via the web browser
Use the following procedure to log in to Message Networking from
the web browser of a separate system on the customer's LAN.
Note: If your Message Networking system is running
software version nm1.0-21.3, the login process is slightly different.
The security certificate does not display, and you enter the Username
and Password fields on one page instead of two. If you are not sure
what version of the software is running, select Utilities
> Software Management >
Messaging System Software Display and check the version
number of the audixcd line.
To log in to the Message Networking system via a web browser:
- Open the web browser of a machine connected to the customer's
LAN.
The web browser screen displays.
- Enter the address http://localhost.localdomain.com where
localhost is the name of the machine and localdomain
is the name of the company's domain (for example, http://mymachine.mycompany.com).
A page displays with a security notice. Message Networking
requires your browser to have a security certificate, which
is used to establish an encrypted, secure session with the Avaya
media server.
- Click About This Screen for information about
the security certificate, or click Continue to
proceed.
A dialog box displays informing you that you are about to view
pages over a secure connection.
- Click OK.
The security alert for the security certificate displays.
- You can either accept the security certificate for your current
browser session or install the certificate for the current session
and all future sessions:
- Click Yes to accept the server certificate
for the current session only. This option is recommended if
you are accessing Message Networking on a one-time basis (for
example, from a computer or browser that you do not normally
use), or if you are unable to store the certificate for future
sessions.
- Click View Certificate and then follow
the prompts to install the certificate. This option is recommended
if you are accessing Message Networking from a computer and
browser that you plan to use again. This option is not always
available and may not work on all systems. The steps to store
certificate differ depending on the browser you are using.
- The Username field displays.
- Type sa (or another appropriate login) and click Login.
The system is case sensitive, so use lowercase letters.
The Password field displays.
- Enter the password for your login and click Login.
The system displays the Administration menu. Select items from
the menu by clicking on them. Use the browser Back button to return
to the previous page, or click Return to Main from any
page to redisplay the Administration menu.
