This topic provides an overview of the administrator interface
for the Message Networking system:
- Web-based administration interface. Administration of
the Message Networking system is performed through the Web-based
administration menu and pages.
- Administering remote machines. Remote machine administration
through the Message Networking administration screens allows you
to add, modify, and delete supported analog or digital remote
machines to Message Networking. For information on adding a remote
machine, see Administering remote
machines.
- Defining network updates. Three types of network updates
are supported by Message Networking:
- Full. Subscriber
information from any and all nodes is available to any other
node that is set up as Full; an unlimited number of subscribers
can be added (up to the amount of system memory).
- Directory View (static) updates. A Directory View
allows you to define, for a particular remote machine, the
remote machines that can provide updates to that machine.
You can specify a range of mailbox IDs on a remote machine
from which to accept update information. Only those mailboxes
defined in the Directory View are included. You can also define
whether to include a voiced name for the subscriber. For more
information on Directory Views, see Administering
remote machine Directory Views.
- Dynamic. Subscriber
information is automatically added to directories the first
time a new subscriber sends a message. Although there is no
limit to how many subscribers can be added, the number of
subscribers is limited by available system memory.
- Defining dial plan mapping. Dial plan number mapping
allows messages to be delivered to locations with different addressing
schemes. For example, a message that is addressed using a 10-digit
addressing scheme can be delivered automatically to a location
that has 5-digit local addressing automatically through the use
of dial plan mapping. A remote machine does not have to modify
current addressing practices. For more information on dial plan
mapping, see Administering remote
machine dial plan mapping.
- Message Confirmation comparison. The Accessed/Return
Receipt/Positive Confirmation and Negative
Confirmation Support tables compare how Message Confirmation
is handled for messages sent through Message Networking.
