Complete the following procedure to configure
an analog-line interface card. Use the analog-line
interface card diagram as a guide when configuring a card.
Warning! Damage from electrostatic discharge is possible.
See Protecting against ESD damage for
more information.
To configure an analog-line interface card:
- Remove the new card from its packaging.
- Set the unique board ID of the new card. Turn the SW30 rotary
switch, located on the top of the card, to change the board ID.
- If you are replacing an existing card, verify that the ID
of the new card matches the ID of the card that you removed
by comparing the old card with the new card.
- If you are adding a new card, set the board ID according
to the slot in which you are installing it. Analog-line interface
cards are placed in the slots numbered PCI 3 through PCI 1,
from bottom to top. See the Internal
view of platform for slot location. Board IDs are assigned
as follows:
- The card in PCI slot 3 is assigned ID 0.
- The card in PCI slot 2 is assigned ID 1.
- The card in PCI slot 1 is assigned ID 2.
- Verify that the hook-switch state of the new card is set to
On so that callers hear a busy signal when the card is not initialized.
Use the red SW4 switch, located near
the top of the card, to set the hook-switch state. If you are
replacing an existing card, verify the setting by comparing the
old card with the new card.
- If more than one card is installed in the system, set the CT
Bus jumper. Use JP2 to set the CT Bus jumper.
- If you are replacing an existing card, verify that the CT Bus
jumper setting is the same as the card you removed by comparing
the old card with the new card.
- If you are installing a new card, use the following table to
determine whether the CT Bus should be jumpered to terminate the
CT Bus jumper.
CT Bus Jumper Settings Table
Number of Cards |
CT Bus Jumper Setting |
1 |
Off (not jumpered) |
2 |
On (both pins jumpered) |
3 |
On (both pins jumpered) for
the first and third cards (PCI slots 1 and 3); Off (not
jumpered) for the middle card (PCI slot 2) |
- Install the new card in the PC.
