Configuring the display name for incoming external calls

This section describes how to configure the display name in Microsoft Exchange for messages received outside your organization. The display name appears in the subscriber’s inbox and on the Unified Messenger Voice Form, to indicate that a voice message was left by an outside caller.

By default, the display name is External Caller followed by the MAS name in parentheses. You may want to change the display name, or remove the MAS from the display name.

Note: If you are running Avaya Modular Messaging Solution — IBM Lotus Domino version, you must create an external caller mailbox in your Notes directory. See your Domino Administrator documentation for information on setting up mailboxes.

To configure the display name for incoming external calls

  1. Run Microsoft Exchange Administrator from the Microsoft Exchange folder in the Programs menu.
  2. Click the Microsoft Exchange site containing the MAS.
  3. Click the Octel container.
  4. Double-click the MAS’s directory entry in the right side of the window.
  5. The system displays the External Caller tab.

  6. Click the General tab.
  7. If required, change the External Caller display name.
  8. Click OK or Apply.
Important!   The display name and alias name must be the same.
