- Fail over time limit (minutes) Select the number of minutes after which the MAS shifts messaging support to another peer server. One minute is the default.
- Maximum ping time (ms) Select the number of milliseconds the MAS may take to receive a successful ping with a peer server in order to select it for backup messaging service. One thousand milliseconds (or one second) is the default.
- Fail back idle time (minutes) Select the number of minutes that voice ports on the MAS must be idle before the MAS attempts to return service to the primary peer server. Fifteen minutes is the default.
- Enable unlimited fail over attempts Select this option so that the MAS will check indefinitely for another peer server to provide service if the primary peer server fails. If you do not check this field, you must select a limit on the number of attempts the MAS makes to find another peer server.
- Fail over attempt limit Select a limit on the number of attempts the MAS makes to find another peer server. This field is available only if you do not check the Enable unlimited fail over attempts field.
- Monitor Exception List Review this list for the peer servers in the voice mail domain that the MAS will not consider for fail over service. You may wish to add a server to the list if the server typically has high traffic volume and whose performance would drop significantly if it provided fail over service.
To add a peer server as an exception:
- Click the Add icon
on the upper right border of the Monitor exception list box.
A new line appears in the Monitor exception list box.
- Type the name of the server you want to add to the list.
- Monitor exception mode Select Automatic if you want to prevent a fail over to servers in the Monitor Exception list. Select None to turn monitoring off.
- Monitor new servers Select this field if you want any new servers within the voice mail domain to be added to the exceptions list.
