Changing the password for the account running MASs

MASs run under a Windows account. If the password for this account changes, you must ensure that the password is also updated in the following locations:

Updating the NT account password in the DCOM configuration

If you change the Windows account password, you must update the password in the DCOM configuration for each MAS running under the account. If you do not update this password, PC client applications cannot be used.

To update the NT account password in the DCOM configuration:

  1. Run DCOMCNFG.exe.
  2. This utility is supplied with Windows and is normally located in WINNT\SYSTEM32.

  3. In the Applications page, click Modular Messaging MAS, and click Properties.
  4. In the Identity page, enter the new Windows account password in the Password and Confirm Password fields.
  5. To exit Modular Messaging settings, click OK.
  6. To exit the DCOMCNFG utility, click OK.
  7. Restart the MAS.

Updating the Windows account password in the Avaya Modular Messaging service

When you change the Windows account password, you must update the password in the MAS service for each MAS running under the account. The MAS service is located in the Control Panel, Services applet. If you do not update this password, the MAS cannot be restarted.
