Overview of creating subscriber accounts for Exchange 5.5

You create an Avaya Modular Messaging subscriber account by enabling Modular Messaging for a Microsoft Exchange recipient. You can enable Modular Messaging for the following types of recipient:

Mailbox A mail recipient on the Microsoft Exchange server

Custom recipient A mail recipient not on the Microsoft Exchange server, such as an Octel Analog Networking user on a remote system

Distribution list A group of mail recipients

You enable Modular Messaging for a recipient on the Avaya Modular Messaging property page. This property page was added to the Microsoft Exchange Administrator recipients dialog box specifically for creating subscriber accounts.


When using Microsoft Exchange Administrator to modify Modular Messaging details for a subscriber, properties may be lost if both the following conditions apply: Subscribers change their Modular Messaging properties using Subscriber Options shortly before or after the administrator’s modification. The MAS connected to the client machine running Subscriber Options has a peer Exchange server that is not the same as the Exchange server running Microsoft Exchange Administrator.
