Configuring advanced Avaya Modular Messaging information

Configure advanced Avaya Modular Messaging information in the Advanced Voice Mail User Properties dialog box.

To configure advanced Avaya Modular Messaging information:

  1. On the Modular Messaging property page, click Advanced.
  2. The system displays the Advanced Voice Mail User Properties dialog box.

  3. Complete the following fields, as required:
    • Class of service  Select the class of service that you want to assign to the mailbox. If one or more classes of service exist, the class of service number 1 is used by default when you create a new subscriber account.
    • The Class of service field is unavailable if no name has been configured for the specified class of service. Configure classes of service using the Voice Mail System Configuration application (Telephone User Interface - Class of service dialog box).

For more information, see Voice Mail Domain Administration.

    • Educator state  This field indicates to what extent the subscriber has personalized the mailbox. The default on creating a new subscriber is New uninitialized mailbox.
    • The Educator states are as follows:

      • New uninitialized mailbox
      • Password changed from default
      • Please Hold prompt recorded
      • Name recorded
      • Optional greeting 1 recorded
      • Optional greeting 2 recorded
      • Personal greeting recorded
    • Preferred prompt language  Select the language required by the subscriber for voicing mailbox prompts. By default, this is the primary language for the voice mail domain, configured in Voice Mail System Configuration. If no languages are installed, English is used by default.
    • Caller application  Select the caller application associated with this subscriber mailbox, if applicable.
    • Reset  Click to reset the Educator state to New uninitialized mailbox. This activates the Educator the next time subscribers access their mailboxes and forces them to change their passwords.
    • Allow call handling  Select to allow subscribers to use Subscriber Options to turn on the call handling feature. This permits subscribers to control what happens to calls that are transferred to their extensions by the automated attendant, when they cannot answer or the line is busy. Call handling also enables subscribers to block calls transferred by the automated attendant. This check box is selected by default.
    • Note: Call handling does not apply if direct inward dialing (DID) is being used.
    • Allow call screening  Select to allow subscribers to use Subscriber Options to turn on the call screening feature. This permits subscribers to choose between accepting, transferring, or rejecting a call announced by the automated attendant. This check box is selected by default.
    • Allow intercom paging  Select to allow the subscriber to use the Subscriber Options to turn on the intercom paging feature. This permits callers to page subscribers in the building if they do not answer their extensions. This check box is selected by default.
    • Allow prompt editing  Select to allow subscribers to edit personalized prompts and greetings, except the extended absence greeting, using Subscriber Options, Educator, and personal configuration in the TUI. This check box is selected by default.
    • Note: Subscribers are always allowed to edit the Name prompt, regardless of this setting.
    • Allow extended absence greeting  Select to allow subscribers to use Subscriber Options to record an extended absence greeting. This is played to callers when a subscriber is away for an extended amount of time, for example, summer vacation. This check box is cleared by default.
    • Allow Call Me  Select to allow the subscriber to use the Call Me feature. With Call Me, the subscriber can be called at a designated number each time they receive a message that meets certain criteria. The subscriber is then invited to log onto Avaya Modular Messaging. When selected, subscribers can set up their own Call Me rules in Subscriber Options. This check box is cleared by default.
    • This option is available only if Call Me is enabled for the voice mail domain.

    • Allow Find Me  Select to allow the subscriber to use the Find Me feature. With Find Me, unanswered calls can be re-directed to a list of telephone numbers specified by the subscriber. When this option is selected, subscribers can set up their own Find Me rules in Subscriber Options. This check box is cleared by default.
    • Note: Find Me is only available with digital telephony.
    • Allow Message Waiting Indicator  Select to allow the subscriber to use the message waiting indicator (MWI) feature. With MWI, a light displays on the subscriber’s telephone when a message arrives that meets certain criteria. When selected, subscribers can set up an MWI rule in Subscriber Options. This check box is cleared by default
    • This option is available only if MWI is enabled for the voice mail domain.

    • Allow subscriber to edit announcements  Select to allow the subscriber to record and edit announcements for use in caller applications. If this option is enabled, subscribers can record announcements using the TUI Personal Configuration. This check box is cleared by default.
    • Delete messages on TUI exit  Select to permanently remove messages from the subscriber’s Deleted Items folder when exiting a TUI session. The system only removes messages placed in the Deleted Items folder during the session. Messages already in the Deleted Items folder at the start of the TUI session remain in the Deleted Items folder. This check box is cleared by default.
    • Save Sent Items copy from TUI  Select to save a copy of each voice message sent during a TUI session in the Sent Items folder. This check box is selected by default.
    • Default fax print telephone number  The default fax print telephone number is the subscriber’s default telephone number for printing fax messages. This field is available only if fax is enabled for the voice mail domain.
    • Enter the fax telephone number to which the fax server forwards fax messages. If your fax servers support canonical addressing and canonical addressing has been enabled in Voice Mail System Configuration, enter the area code, country code, and fax extension in the appropriate fields, for example:

      +1 (408) 784 3000

If canonical addressing is not supported or is disabled, the system displays only one field. Enter the fax number in this field, including the area code and country code if required.

For information on configuring canonical addressing for fax numbers, see Voice Mail Domain Administration.

Note: You must set up a Fax Routing Address in Microsoft Exchange for each subscriber who is fax-enabled. This is an e-mail address that enables Avaya Modular Messaging to transfer a fax call and supply details of the mailbox to which the fax is to be delivered. For information on setting up e-mail addresses in Microsoft Exchange, see your Microsoft Exchange Administrator documentation.
    • Name  Use the Voice Player to record the recipient’s Name prompt, if necessary. To do this, the Avaya Modular Messaging client must be installed on the computer running the Microsoft Exchange Administrator program.
    • Clicking Options opens the Voice Player Setup tab, where you can configure the Voice Player to work over the telephone or use local multimedia.

Clicking Clear clears the Name prompt. This might be useful, for example, if the prompt is distorted or the mailbox owner has changed.

For more information, see Recording Name prompts.

  4. Click OK.
