Setting up message dispatch schedules

Before configuring a remote Octel Analog Networking node, you must set up message dispatch schedules. The message dispatch schedule determines when the sending server places calls to the remote Octel Analog Networking node and transmits messages addressed to mailboxes on that node. Your organization may want to dispatch some messages, such as those with low importance, at times when call charges are lowest.

A message dispatch schedule is associated with a remote Octel Analog Networking node when you configure the node. For more information, see Configuring remote Octel Analog Networking nodes.

To create a schedule:

  1. Start Octel Analog Networking Gateway Administration.
  2. For more information, see Starting Octel Analog Networking gateway administration.

  3. Click the Schedules tab.
  4. Click Create.
  5. The system displays the Create Schedule dialog box.

  6. In the New schedule name field, enter a name for the schedule.
  7. Click OK.
  8. In the Importance field on the Schedules tab, select the priority for which you want to set up message dispatch frequency.
  9. In the Active field, select the frequency with which messages are to be dispatched for the selected importance. You can select from the following options:
    Option
    Description
    Never
    Never send messages.
    Always
    Send messages at any time.
    Selected times
Restrict message transmission to specific times. Select a time or block of time in the schedule grid to assign specific connection times. For more information, see Using the Schedule Grid.
  10. Repeat Steps 6 and 7 for each importance.
  11. Click OK or Apply.
Note: To delete a schedule that is not being used, select the schedule in the Name field on the Schedule tab and click Delete. The system prompts you to confirm the deletion. You cannot delete the default schedule.
