This topic provides information about administering the MSS to send syslog (system logging) messages to an external, customer-provided server. Whether an external syslog server is administered or not, syslog messages are always stored on the MSS. For information about viewing syslog entries on the MSS, see Viewing the MSS Administration History log.
To administer the MSS to send syslog messages to an external server:
- On the Administer Syslog Server page, in the Syslog Server field, enter the Fully Qualified Domain Name (FQDN) or IP address of the server on
which you want to store syslog messages.
- For the Administrative Session and LDAP Transactions fields, select yes to send the associated syslog messages to the specified syslog server.
For more information, click the field names or Help.
- Click Save.
To send a test message to the syslog server for any of the administered syslog message types, click Send Test Message.
