Restoring power to an S3400-family server

To restore power to an S3400-family server:

1. For a rack-mount setup, reattach any cables you might have unplugged from the back of the server.
   
2. Plug the AC power cord back into the power outlet on the server.
   • The following servers use a single AC cord. See figure:
   • MSS standard configuration (back view)
   • Messaging Application Server (back view)
   • The MSS-H high-availability configuration might have one or two power switches and one or two AC cords, depending on the type of redundant power supply installed. See figure MSS high-availability configuration (back view).
     • For the vertically stacked model:
     1. Plug the AC cord into each power supply.
     2. Push the rocker switch on each power supply to turn on the power.
     • For the side-by-side model:
     1. Plug in the AC cord.
     2. Push the rocker switch below the power supplies to turn on the power.
3. Press the power button on the front of the server.

   The green power lamp on the front of the server should light.

4. For an MAS: When the reboot is complete, log on to the server using the appropriate account. Verify that all Modular Messaging services required for this server are started. For more information, see the MAS administration information or Installation and Upgrades (pdf).
5. Continue with any verification procedures needed to return the system to full service.
