Microsoft Windows Installation
To copy the documentation library to your PC, do the following:

- Open Windows Explorer.
- From Windows Explorer, browse to the CD-ROM drive.
- Highlight the appropriate folder and select File
> Copy.
- Select the directory to which you want to copy the Help
files and select File > Paste.
- For easy access in the future, do one of the following:
- View the menu page and create a bookmark in the browser.
- Create a shortcut on the desktop to the autorun.exe file
in the documentation library folder. Label the shortcut clearly
for that product.
If you cannot copy the documentation library files or launch the documentation library
from the CD-ROM, it is recommended that you attempt the installation
on another PC, or view or download the documentation from www.avaya.com/support.
LAN Installation
You can install the documentation library on a LAN server if you want to
centralize administration of Avaya documents or make them available
to a group of users who needs this information.
Note: The Avaya documents should be installed
on the one server, and the server and client PCs should be on
the same subnet, for best performance.
- Install the CD-ROM documentation on the server drive as
described in the Microsoft Windows Installation.
- Share the folder that contains the Avaya documentation library with
read-only permission.
- For easy access in the future, do one of the following:
- View the menu page and create a bookmark in the browser.
- On the client PC, create a shortcut on the desktop to
the autorun.exe file
in the documentation library folder. Label the
shortcut clearly for that product.
- You can install Avaya documents for additional products
or releases into this same shared directory as needed.
UNIX Installation
Enter all commands at the UNIX command prompt.
Note: If command names or filenames in the
instructions appear on your system in upper case, as with HP-UX,
type those names in upper case.
- Insert the CD-ROM into the drive.
To open the CD-ROM drive, you may have to first unmount
it and remove an already mounted CD. Enter the appropriate
command for your platform:
AIX & HP-UX: umount /cdrom
Solaris: eject cd
- Log in as root.
If prompted to run OpenWin, choose Yes.
- Mount the CD-ROM file system by entering one of the following
commands, or one that is appropriate for your system:
AIX: mount -vcdrfs -r /dev/cd0 /cdrom
HP-UX: mount -F cdfs -r /dev/dsk//cdrom
Solaris: Solaris is auto-mounted.
- Optional: You can access the documentation library files directly from
the CD-ROM or from your system disk. To install the document
files on your system disk, enter:
cp -r /mm_r1
or
cp -r /mn_r1
where is the directory on your system disk where
you want to put the document files.
Caution: if your system alters filenames
when copying, some hypertext links may not work unless you
restore the original filenames.
The documents are in HTML which can be read using IE 4.01,
Netscape 4.0, or newer versions of either browser. Additionally
there are PDF (Portable Document Format), which can be read
using Adobe Acrobat Reader 3 or greater software. If copied
to your system, the documentation library files use about
201 MB of disk space.
