This topic explains how to verify that public
LAN access to the LDAP directory is enabled on MSS.
Security Risk!
If you enable LDAP directory access, email addresses of each
subscriber are viewable. Therefore, it is recommended that
you administer LDAP for use only behind a corporate firewall,
and that access to the LDAP port be blocked from external
users. |
To administer LDAP ports:
- On the Administer System Attributes and Ports page, under System TCP/IP Ports, administer the following LDAP ports:
- LDAP Port: This is the primary LDAP port.
- LDAP SSL Port: This is the port used for LDAP transmissions requiring SSL.
- LDAP Internal Server Port: This is the port number used for internal LDAP processes.
- LDAP Directory Update Port: This is the port number used by the directory update LDAP server.
- LDAP Front End Alternate Port: The secondary LDAP port, if you choose to administer one.
Click the field name or Help for a complete description of the LDAP port fields.
- Click Save.
- If your subscribers will be using the MSS in conjunction
with email client applications, such as Microsoft Outlook, for "by name" addressing, continue with Accessing
the LDAP address directory.
