Adding a trusted server

Trusted servers are clients for which you administer permission to write data to the MSS LDAP directory, such as Mailbox Manager or an MWI server.

Use this procedure to add a trusted server if you are not adding one of specific trusted server types listed in Adding trusted servers.

To add a trusted server:

  1. On the MSS, add a new trusted server for the remote system:
    1. On the Manage Trusted Servers page, click Add a New Trusted Server.
    2. On the Add Trusted Server page, complete the remaining fields on the page. You can click the field names or Help to view more information.
    3. Click Save to add the machine as a trusted server on the system.

A message displays that the trusted server was added successfully.

    4. Click OK.

The Manage Trusted Server page displays the updated list of trusted servers.

  2. On the remote machine, administer the LDAP connection to the Modular Messaging system. The steps required to perform this task vary depending on the system to which you are connecting. See the documentation that came with the remote system.
  3. Test the LDAP connection from the remote machine. See the documentation for the system you are adding as a trusted server for information on testing the connection.
