New material in this issue to support Release 1.5 software includes:
New GigE Models - Release 1.5 adds two telephones, the 9630G and 9640G, to the 9600 Series. Both models provide built-in Gigabyte Ethernet (GigE) support, but are otherwise identical to their 9630 and 9640 counterparts.
Bluetooth Support - Certain 9600 Series IP Telephones now support a Bluetooth adapter and any device compatible with the headset profile. However, this release supports only a wireless headset. Safety and installation instructions are provided with the adapter and headset and are also available on the Avaya support Web site.
Arabic Language - Arabic has been added to the available language choices.
Emergency Button - Administrators can now program an “Emergency” number using the new PHNEMERGNUM parameter.
Administration Enhancements - Release 1.5 supports functionality introduced on Avaya Communication Manager Release 4.0. Call server administration of four key parameters is directly downloaded to the telephone during registration, instead of or in addition to, from the settings file or locally on the telephone. The four parameters are: SNMP community string, SNMP Source IP Addresses, Craft Access Code (PROCPSWD), and Group ID. The first three parameters are system parameters, while the fourth parameter is administered on a station-by-station basis.
Local Administrative (Craft) Procedures - The Avaya one-X Deskphone Edition for 9600 Series IP Telephones Installation and Maintenance Guide describes a new user interface for all local administrative (Craft) procedures.
Enhanced security - to defend against sequence number attacks, as per RFC 1948.
